Fix your Galaxy Y with Gingerbread: Unbrick

While flashing custom ROMs to SGYit may not get installed properly or you might have skipped some  important steps which may end up in bootloops ( the phone stucks at  boot animation ) or soft brick. 

* Take out the battery , sim , sdcard from the phone, again insert the sdcard and battery and try to enter cwm recovery by pressing volume up + home + power buttons. If you enter, then restore the nandroid backup which you have made before flashing the custom Rom. If you don't know what is NANDROID backup and restore click here.

* If you cannot enter cwm recovery, then you have to fix the phone using ODIN by the following procedure
.
  REQUIREMENTS:
            Stock firmware.
            Odin v3
            Samsung kies.
            USB data cable.

DOWNLOAD:
             Stock firmware.
             Odin v1.85

PROCEDURE:
   
      Put these Odin and stock firmware files to the PC. Now open the stock firmware and extract all. Three files will there i.e. CSC.RAR , PDA.RAR and MODEM.RAR. Copy these three files to the desktop.
Now open the Odin file and extract all. Right click on the extracted Odin and run it as administrator, select 'yes' if any dialog box appears.
You will now see a window with many blocks in it.
Now connect your phone via USB and go to download mode by pressing volume down+ home + power buttons, when you see a warning screen press the volume up button and you will enter download mode.
Samsung kies should be install in your pc to recognise the phone. Now if the phone is recognised then you will see a block turning yellow in colour.


Now select the block PDA and select the PDA.rar file which u extracted to the desktop.
similarly select CSC block and select the CSC.rar and finally PHONE block and select MODEM.rar . Leave the bootloader and pit blocks empty and press the button START.
you will see a green mark in upper block and you can see the development in your phone too. After a while the first block completely turns green and PASS will be written on it. Your phone reboots automatically and the phone is back to the factory made firmware.
